UP Warriorz (UPW) have put together an exciting squad for the WPL 2026 season, making some bold moves during the mega auction. The highlight of the auction was the acquisition of Deepti Sharma, the Indian all-rounder who was the player of the tournament at the Women’s ODI World Cup earlier this year. UPW used their Right-to-Match (RTM) card to secure Deepti Sharma after Delhi Capitals (DC) made an opening bid of Rs 50 lakh. The Warriors raised her price to Rs 3.2 crore, and DC ultimately dropped out, ensuring that Deepti would return to UPW.
In addition to Deepti Sharma, UPW used their RTM to secure England star Sophie Ecclestone, one of the best left-arm spinners in the world. Sophie was bought for Rs 85 lakh after a bidding war between RCB and DC. Both Deepti and Sophie had previously played for UPW in the inaugural season but were released ahead of the WPL 2026 auction. Their return strengthens UPW’s squad as they aim to challenge for the title.
The franchise also secured Australian legend Meg Lanning for Rs 1.9 crore, adding more firepower to their top-order batting. Lanning, known for her consistency and leadership, was previously part of Delhi Capitals in WPL 2025 and will now play for UPW in WPL 2026.
Phoebe Litchfield, an exciting Australian batter, was bought for Rs 1.2 crore, while Kiran Navgire (Rs 60 lakh) and Harleen Deol (Rs 50 lakh) provide depth in both the batting and bowling departments. Kranti Goud was brought back using the RTM for Rs 50 lakh, ensuring the continuity of UPW’s strong Indian core.
Asha Sobhana, a talented all-rounder, was acquired for Rs 1.1 crore, while Deandra Dottin, one of the most explosive batters in world cricket, was secured for Rs 80 lakh. Shikha Pandey, the Indian pacer, was bought for Rs 2.4 crore, adding more experience to UPW’s fast-bowling department.
Other purchases include players like Shipra Giri, Simran Shaikh, Tara Norris, and Chloe Tryon, who will add depth to UPW’s bench strength. Suman Meena, G Trisha, and Pratika Rawal were also bought, offering the squad flexibility and options for the upcoming season.
The UPW squad looks formidable
with a strong mix of experienced internationals and young Indian talent. The franchise will look to challenge for the WPL 2026 title, having assembled a well-rounded squad capable of competing at the highest level.
