Rohit Sharma ODI Captaincy Change: Intense Conversation With Gautam Gambhir Goes Viral

Perth: Indian cricket star Rohit Sharma was spotted having an intense discussion with head coach Gautam Gambhir during Team India’s practice session ahead of the India vs Australia 2025 ODI series. The viral video of Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir has taken social media by storm, especially after the recent Rohit Sharma ODI captaincy change.

This was Rohit Sharma’s first appearance in Indian colors since being replaced as ODI captain by Shubman Gill earlier this month. The BCCI announced the change while naming the squad for the upcoming three-match India vs Australia 2025 ODI series, starting October 19 in Perth.

During a press conference, chief selector Ajit Agarkar confirmed that he personally informed Rohit Sharma about the ODI captaincy change, stating that the move was part of a long-term plan to prepare young captain Shubman Gill for future challenges.

In a video shared by RevSportz, Rohit Sharma was seen engaging in a serious conversation with Gautam Gambhir during practice. The chat reportedly happened right after Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli spent nearly 30 minutes batting together in the nets, creating a nostalgic moment for Indian cricket fans.

The Indian cricket team arrived in Perth in two batches to prepare for the high-profile India vs Australia 2025 ODI series, which will be followed by five T20Is starting October 29.

Virat Kohli, who retired from Test and T20I cricket earlier this year alongside Rohit Sharma, was later seen interacting with bowling coach Morne Morkel and joking with Arshdeep Singh during training.

Both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are expected to feature in what could be their final ODI series in Australia, with their potential participation in the 2027 Cricket World Cup depending on form and fitness.

Despite the leadership shift after the Rohit Sharma ODI captaincy change, new ODI skipper Shubman Gill praised the veteran duo for their invaluable experience and guidance to younger players in the team.

The Indian team will continue training at Optus Stadium in Perth ahead of the first ODI, with fans eagerly waiting to see how the new leadership dynamic unfolds during the India vs Australia 2025 ODI series.
